North Macedonia farmers face rising production costs

Agricultural producers in North Macedonia are facing a widening gap between rising production costs and stagnant selling prices. According to the latest data from the State Statistical Office released on October 16, the costs of current agricultural means rose by 8.8 percent in September compared to the same month last year.

In contrast, the prices of agricultural products increased by only 2.3 percent during the same period. Investment means in the agricultural sector also saw a price increase of 8.6 percent. This disparity suggests that the profit margins for farmers are shrinking as the expenses required for production outpace the revenue generated from sales.
