North Macedonia finalizes hunting ground management system

North Macedonia is finalizing a system for the responsible management of its hunting grounds. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Borche Serafimovski announced that out of 268 established hunting grounds, 21 remain in the process of being allocated. This step aims to establish clear accountability for the maintenance and management of every site.

During a ceremony in Veles celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Hunting Federation of Macedonia, Serafimovski emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and trophy smuggling. He stated that institutions and the hunting community will work together to ensure all illegal activities are documented and sanctioned.

The anniversary event included an exhibition of legal hunting trophies, featuring specimens such as wolves, deer, bears, and wild boar. Vlatko Aleksoski, president of the Federation, noted that the organization has grown to include approximately 25,000 members and highlighted the recent formation of a women's hunting association.
