North Macedonia reports 1.4 billion euros in foreign investment
North Macedonia is experiencing significant economic developments, highlighted by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski’s report that foreign direct investment reached approximately 1.4 billion euros over the last 24-25 months. This figure is nearly double the 750 million euros recorded during the previous administration's period. The government remains focused on attracting both domestic and international investors, citing recent projects such as a wind farm and new manufacturing facilities.
Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska emphasized the importance of fiscal resilience at the Ohrid 2026 Regional Conference. She stated that fiscal space must be built proactively through responsible public finance management, gradual deficit reduction, and careful debt management to prepare for future global economic uncertainties. She noted that while the economy has seen a growth rate of over 3% for ten consecutive quarters, reaching 4.3% in the last quarter, the government must balance supporting this investment cycle with gradual fiscal consolidation.
Regarding energy security, Prime Minister Mickoski assured citizens of a stable winter with steady supplies and no expected price fluctuations for electricity. He noted that the government is working to maintain or lower electricity tariffs by January. While gas prices in Europe may rise, he expects minimal impact on North Macedonia due to its limited consumption and existing reserves.
