North Macedonia: Government rejects funding for Union of Fighters

In the Macedonian Parliament, SDSM lawmaker Oliver Spasovski criticized the VMRO-led government for rejecting an amendment intended to provide financial support to the Union of Fighters. The amendment requested two million denars to ensure the continuous functioning of the organization and to preserve the traditions of the National Liberation Struggle.

Spasovski noted that this specific amendment is typically submitted during every budget and rebalance process. He expressed surprise that members of the government who frequently invoke anti-fascist values have failed to take concrete steps to support the organization. He emphasized that the requested funds do not represent a significant burden on the state budget but are vital for the survival of the group, which plays a key role in preserving the historical memory and values of the country's founding era.
