North Macedonia hosts regional conference on EU accession oversight

The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia hosted the Third Regional Conference focused on the role of effective parliamentary oversight in advancing the European Union accession process. The event was supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Participants discussed legislative and supervisory functions, parliamentary diplomacy, administrative capacities, and the role of parliaments in monitoring the Reform Agenda. The conference aimed to produce concrete conclusions and recommendations to strengthen regional institutions. Speakers emphasized that EU integration is a strategic goal for all Western Balkan countries and requires national parliaments to lead reforms, align legislation with EU law, and ensure democratic oversight during the institutional transformation process.
