North Macedonia’s Regulatory Commission for Energy, Water Services and Waste Management (KRRE) issued a decision effective 5 August 2026 that raises the maximum retail price of diesel to 99.5 denar per litre and sets gasoline (EUROSUPER BS‑95) at 91 denar and EUROSUPER BS‑98 at 93 denar per litre. The decision also lowers the excise tax on gasoline by 2 denar per litre while increasing the diesel excise by 1 denar per litre. This follows a July 27 increase that added 4.5 denar per litre to diesel prices and is expected to impact consumers, transport firms, farmers and other businesses.

In Bulgaria, diesel prices have surged by more than 17 percent within a single month, prompting widespread reports of a sharp price jump.

Separately, OPEC+ members, including Saudi Arabia and Russia, agreed to raise crude‑oil production by about 188,000 barrels per day from September, aiming to stabilise global oil markets amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
