North Macedonia unpaid state obligations reach 692.5 million euros

North Macedonia’s unpaid state obligations have reached approximately 692.5 million euros as of the end of June 2026, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. This represents an increase of roughly 26.4 million euros since December 2025 and 17.5 million euros since March 2026.

The debt is divided between the public and private sectors. Obligations to the public sector total approximately 344.5 million euros, while debts to the private sector, citizens' associations, and non-profit organizations amount to roughly 315.2 million euros.

Major contributors to the debt include state railway companies, with MŽ Infrastructure owing 91.4 million euros and MŽ Transport owing nearly 80 million euros. Other significant debtors include the public health institution (35 million euros), ESM Production (33.8 million euros), and ESM Distribution (29.7 million euros). While debts to the private sector and public institutions have risen, obligations to foreign entities and individuals have seen a decrease.
