North Macedonia opens applications for subsidized student meals

The Ministry of Education and Science of North Macedonia has issued a public call for students to apply for subsidized meals for the 2026/2027 academic year. The application period for current and incoming students runs from August 26 to August 31, 2026.

To qualify, applicants must be citizens of North Macedonia and enrolled as regular students in first or second cycle studies, or integrated studies, at public or private universities. A key eligibility requirement is that the student's monthly income from any source must not exceed the current year's minimum net wage.

The subsidy provides 140 denars per day to assist with the purchase of prepared food, which can be used from Monday to Saturday. Applications must be submitted electronically through the official Ministry portal. Starting in October, students who missed the initial deadline or lost eligibility may reapply between the 1st and 5th of each month if they meet the criteria again. The Ministry has partnered with Sparkasse Bank to facilitate the disbursement of these funds.
