North Macedonia: Municipalities distribute 4 million euros in subsidies

In North Macedonia, municipal governments distributed over 4 million euros in subsidies and financial aid to citizens during the 2025 election year. According to research by the Center for Civic Communications, 63 municipalities spent a total of 4,056,482 euros across 92 different categories, an increase of nearly one million euros compared to 2024. Approximately 58,290 citizens benefited from these funds, with the highest number of recipients in Gazi Baba and Kisella Voda, while the Aerodrom and Centar municipalities in Skopje allocated the most significant funds.

On the political front, SDSM leader Venko Filipçe addressed the 35th anniversary of Macedonian independence, warning that the country is losing valuable time regarding European integration. He noted that while neighbors like Albania and Montenegro are making progress in EU negotiations, North Macedonia remains stalled, which he characterized as a direct loss for the state and its citizens.

Additionally, infrastructure development continues in the Chair municipality. Mayor Izet Mexhiti and Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski inspected the site for the upcoming construction of the Mit’hat Frashëri boulevard. The project will include 1.4 kilometers of road with four lanes, sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, and new public lighting.
