North Macedonia Parliament debates higher education, energy and oil crisis legislation
The 115th session of North Macedonia's Parliament convened today to consider a range of legislative proposals. Three higher‑education bills – the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Quality in Higher Education and Science, and the Law on Scientific Research Activity – were examined in first reading by the Education, Science and Sport Committee and by the Legislative‑Legal Committee for legal conformity.
The Defense and Security Committee reviewed a draft decision to extend the state of emergency related to a potential disruption in oil and petroleum product supplies. The government has lengthened the emergency period from 21 July to 20 October to maintain stability in energy markets and protect citizens' living standards. Additional proposals on the agenda included amendments to the camping‑car law, the energy law, international and temporary protection law, insurance supervision law, and the student standard law.
