North Macedonia PM Christian Micic faces criticism over cabinet reshuffle and appointment of convicted partner

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) says the planned reconstruction of the government, slated for a parliamentary vote on July 13, is an effort by Prime Minister Christian Micic to further concentrate power rather than implement genuine reform. The party argues that ministerial changes are merely personnel swaps, with policies unchanged, and that key decisions are made in the prime minister’s office while coalition partners are reduced to a peripheral role.

SDSM also condemned Micic’s decision to place business associate Dimitar Dimovski – who is conditionally sentenced for land‑sale and other corruption cases – in charge of the “good governance” ministry. The party claims the appointment exemplifies cronyism and the further entrenchment of corrupt, private‑interest‑driven governance, undermining prospects for improved living standards, price reductions, higher wages, or accelerated EU integration.
