North Macedonia police issue 140 traffic violations in nationwide crackdown
The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a nationwide targeted traffic control operation in North Macedonia, focusing on cyclists, moped riders, and motorcyclists. During a five-hour window from 17:00 to 22:00, police identified 140 traffic violations.
Of these violations, 102 involved riding without a mandatory protective helmet. Authorities also identified two drivers operating under the influence of alcohol. Eight individuals faced criminal charges under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code. An additional 156 violations of other types were recorded during the operation.
Regional breakdowns of the 140 violations include 33 in Strumica, 17 in Tetovo and the Mobile Unit for Road Safety, 15 in Kumanovo, 13 each in Bitola and Ohrid, 12 in Veles, 11 in Skopje, and nine in Shtip. The Ministry stated that intensified traffic controls will continue to improve safety for all road users and urged motorists to use protective equipment and obey all regulations.
