North Macedonia police issue 63 alcohol-related driving sanctions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs in North Macedonia reported that 63 sanctions were issued for driving under the influence of alcohol during a nationwide crackdown. The operation, conducted between 23:00 and 05:00 on the night of August 16/17, 2026, resulted in eight drivers being deprived of their liberty under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.

Sanctions were distributed across several regions, including Bitola, Kumanovo, Veles, and Ohrid. Additionally, the Mobile Unit for Road Safety sanctioned four drivers for alcohol-related offenses, while 162 other types of traffic violations were recorded during the operation.
