North Macedonia police sanction driver for overcrowded student transport

Police in North Macedonia have sanctioned a legal entity, a responsible official, and a driver following a traffic inspection in the village of Tabanovce. During a check on the Kumanovo-Tabanovce local road, officers discovered a van transporting 18 children, which exceeded the vehicle's legal capacity of nine passengers by ten people.

An emergency technical inspection revealed that the vehicle also had faulty braking systems, specifically involving the service and auxiliary brakes. As a result, the vehicle has been removed from traffic until the defects are repaired. Legal measures are being taken against the company, the responsible person, and the 49-year-old driver.
