North Macedonia police seize 88 motorcycles following traffic inspections

In September 2026, the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Traffic Affairs Sector conducted enhanced inspections across North Macedonia targeting drivers of bicycles, motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles, and quadricycles.

Authorities recorded a total of 1,803 violations, of which 1,478 involved failure to wear protective helmets. The highest number of infractions occurred in the Skopje region with 437 cases, followed by Manastir (233), Veles (213), Strumica (201), and Tetovo (168).

Additionally, police identified 132 instances of the criminal offense of ‘careless driving of a motor vehicle’ under Article 297-a of the Penal Code. As a result of these controls, 88 motorcycles were confiscated. The Ministry has announced that intensified traffic controls will continue and urges all drivers to use helmets and respect traffic regulations.
