North Macedonia Prime Minister plans merger of intelligence agencies

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has confirmed the government's intention to merge the National Security Agency (ANB) with the Intelligence Agency. He stated that the reform is part of the VMRO-DPMNE election program and is being prepared in coordination with relevant institutions and strategic partners.

Mickoski emphasized that the merger will be a transparent process involving public debate and strengthened parliamentary oversight to prevent abuses of power. He noted that the reform aims to protect national sovereignty and democratic capacity. Addressing concerns regarding illegal wiretapping, the Prime Minister argued that current institutional mechanisms make such abuses impossible compared to previous eras.
