North Macedonia public sector wage increases via collective agreements

The VMRO-DPMNE-led government in North Macedonia has reached several collective agreements aimed at increasing wages across various public sectors through social dialogue and institutional solutions.

Key developments include:

• Administrative Staff: Agreements with unions UPOZ and SADO have been reached to improve the status and pay of administrative employees.

• Education: Salaries for education workers have increased by 20%. Specifically, primary and secondary school employees are set to receive raises between 46% and 60% within one mandate, while university professors have seen a 14% increase.

• Healthcare: An annex to the collective agreement has raised healthcare worker salaries by 4,815 denars net. Nurses have received a significant increase, with total raises expected to reach 50% by the end of the mandate.

• Other Sectors: New collective agreements have also been established for employees in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy, as well as for personnel within security structures, both of which include plans for continued wage growth.
