North Macedonia rises to 30th in Global Cybersecurity Index
North Macedonia has significantly improved its standing in the Global Cybersecurity Index, rising from 59th to 30th place among 155 countries. The country achieved a score of 84.17 points, according to the index developed by the Estonian e-Governance Academy.
According to the VMRO-DPMNE-led government, this advancement is the result of systemic reforms and new legislative frameworks. Key measures include the adoption of the Law on the Security of Network and Information Systems and the Cybersecurity Strategy 2025–2028, alongside a corresponding Action Plan. These reforms aim to strengthen the protection of critical digital infrastructure, enhance data protection for citizens, and improve national coordination and response mechanisms for cyber incidents. The government emphasizes that these steps transition the country toward a more resilient and modern digital state with clearly defined institutional responsibilities.
