North Macedonia rejects Bulgarian dictate on constitutional changes

North Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski has stated that the government will not accept constitutional amendments imposed by Bulgaria. Nikoloski characterized the Bulgarian blockade as a political move rather than a reflection of North Macedonia’s reform progress.

Nikoloski emphasized that any potential solution regarding the bilateral dispute must align with the principles of the VMRO-DPMNE party and the current government. He noted that while communication between the two nations remains normal, the government is moving away from previous agreements that he claims the former administration could not fulfill.

Regarding the country’s EU integration, Nikoloski asserted that North Macedonia is currently showing the best results in its reform agenda, citing personal coordination by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski as a key driver for the country’s credibility and financial stability.
