North Macedonia requests meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister
North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Timčo Mucunski, has officially requested a meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Çamova. The meeting is expected to take place next week in Sofia, centered on discussions regarding Corridor 8 and related projects.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated that the diplomatic note was sent following advice from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on how to advance the dialogue between Skopje and Sofia. Mickoski emphasized that a formal bilateral meeting between the two foreign ministers is the necessary first step to move the process forward.
During recent discussions with von der Leyen, Mickoski highlighted the challenges in relations with Bulgaria, noting that North Macedonia seeks a clear European perspective in exchange for decisions with long-term consequences for the country. The goal is to establish stable conditions for European integration.
