North Macedonia seeks bilateral deals to assist transporters
The North Macedonian government is pursuing bilateral agreements with Schengen Area member states to support domestic transporters facing regulatory challenges. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski stated that the administration is working to find solutions to transport issues by negotiating directly with individual countries.
Agreements have already been secured with Switzerland, Croatia, and Romania. The government plans to intensify negotiations with Austria and Slovenia in the coming months, with high-level meetings scheduled for September and October respectively. Efforts are also underway to engage with Germany to ensure coverage on the routes most frequently used by Macedonian transport companies.
