North Macedonia seeks development of national data centers

Dimitar Kovachevski, a Member of Parliament from the SDSM, has highlighted the urgent need for data center development in North Macedonia driven by global digitalization processes. Kovachevski distinguished between two types of infrastructure: national data centers to serve state needs and commercial data centers for private clients.

He noted that while North Macedonia currently possesses a secondary data center supported by the EU, the country lacks a primary National Data Center. Kovachevski expressed support for recent announcements from the Minister of Digital Transformation regarding plans to construct a primary data center in Skopje, which would centralize hardware components for state institutions.
