North Macedonia seeks DFC partnership for Chebreno and Galishte project
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has announced that the North Macedonian government is working to finalize a major investment project in collaboration with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). Following meetings in the United States, the government expects to soon complete the project concept, identify the specific investor, and establish the necessary financial structure.
A central focus of these discussions is the Chebreno and Galishte project. Mickoski noted that while the government has sought private investors for this capital project for decades, current global market conditions have led them to consider it a domestic state investment.
The state-owned company ESM AD is expected to lead the project. The government intends to follow public procurement laws and issue a call to find a financial structure that will secure the required resources. Mickoski highlighted that the DFC already has experience in the country through its involvement in the Antimon project.
