North Macedonia proposes direct flights to Israel to boost investment

North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Timcho Mucunski, has proposed the establishment of a direct airline connecting Tel Aviv with either Skopje or Ohrid. During his first official visit to Israel, Mucunski spoke with The Jerusalem Post about positioning North Macedonia as a strategic gateway to Europe for Israeli tourists, companies, and investors.

Mucunski highlighted that the country’s location at the intersection of European transport corridors 8 and 10, combined with energy interconnection investments, makes it an ideal entry point for Israeli businesses looking to expand into European markets. Beyond tourism, the minister emphasized potential cooperation in sectors including agriculture, water management, security, innovation, healthcare, education, and the defense industry.
