North Macedonia to employ 300 medical specialists by 2026

North Macedonia's Minister of Health, Sasho Klekovski, announced that the registration process for employing 300 private medical specialists in public healthcare institutions will be completed by the end of 2026. The ministry is currently working to align the expressed interests of these specialists with the specific needs of various hospitals.

Klekovski emphasized that priority for employment will be given to hospitals located outside of Skopje to address regional staff shortages. Once the matching process is finalized, the ministry will communicate the results to the public and provide guidelines for hospitals to begin formal recruitment procedures, including advertisements and testing.

The Minister also noted that the shortage of doctors and nurses is a global issue that is expected to increase. He suggested that healthcare needs should be viewed at a regional level rather than an institutional one, proposing a more integrated approach across public health centers, general hospitals, and specialized hospitals to allow for greater flexibility in staff availability.
