North Macedonia to launch digital ID and driver's licenses in October

Stefan Andonovski, the Minister of Digital Transformation, has announced the upcoming launch of the ‘m. Uslugi’ mobile application in October. The app will provide citizens with digital versions of their identity cards and driver's licenses, alongside two additional electronic administrative services.

The initiative aims to make state services more accessible and simpler to use directly via mobile phones. The ministry has been working on cybersecurity, data protection, and establishing protocols for data exchange with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which holds the primary data.

The application will be available on the App Store and Google Play. A test version has already been downloaded by approximately 6,000 citizens. The long-term goal of this digital transformation is for the mobile phone to eventually function as a digital wallet for secure access to state documents and services.
