North Macedonia transport minister addresses driver licensing and fake news
North Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has urged local transport companies to avoid falling victim to fake news originating from neighboring countries. Nikoloski addressed rumors regarding a supposed meeting in Brussels on September 1, clarifying that the event was merely a routine press conference.
Regarding professional licensing, Nikoloski highlighted significant progress made in February when the European Commission updated its strategy to recognize bus and truck drivers as professionals. This recognition allows drivers operating within the Schengen Area to apply for long-term visas, helping them bypass the standard 90-day stay limit within a 180-day period that applies to other non-Schengen residents.
