North Macedonia votes against UN resolution to lift Cuba embargo

North Macedonia has voted against the 34th consecutive United Nations General Assembly resolution aimed at lifting the United States' embargo on Cuba. The decision marks a departure from the country's long-standing diplomatic position.

Out of the participating nations, 130 countries voted in favor of lifting the embargo, while only 17 voted against it. The minority group opposing the resolution included North Macedonia, the United States, Israel, and Ukraine.

The political party Levica criticized the move, targeting Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski and the current government. The party questioned how this vote aligns with the government's stated commitment to European values and called for a formal explanation regarding the reasoning behind the decision.
