Balkan region faces prolonged heatwave with temperatures up to 38°C

The Balkan region is experiencing a prolonged period of unseasonably high temperatures throughout early September. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, temperatures are expected to reach up to 38°C, particularly in the Krajina region, before a shift toward more unstable weather and potential rainfall occurs around September 10.

In Montenegro, Podgorica continues to face extreme heat, having recorded over 90 tropical days this year. Similarly, in North Macedonia, meteorologists predict temperatures around 35-36°C in Skopje, with potential peaks of 38°C, followed by a possible cooling period mid-month.

In Greece, long-term models suggest that while a brief cooling may occur, the general thermal pattern remains above average. Meanwhile, parts of Bulgaria are seeing temperatures between 27°C and 32°C, with a transition toward cooler, more unstable weather and potential rainfall expected by mid-September.

In Croatia, the Zadar area remains under the influence of late summer heat, with temperatures approaching 35°C and the arrival of the Bura wind in the evenings, which may impact maritime traffic.
