North Macedonian wrestlers win silver at Taranto 2026

Wrestlers Rexhep Hajdari and Fati Vejseli have secured silver medals for North Macedonia at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games.

Hajdari earned his silver in the freestyle up to 97 kg category after a 6:0 loss in the final to Greece's Dauren Kurugliev. Vejseli secured silver in the up to 74 kg category; his final against Albania's Islam Dudaev was interrupted due to an injury sustained by Vejseli while Dudaev was leading.

With these two silver medals and a bronze medal previously won by Ahmad Magomedov, North Macedonia has now accumulated three medals at the games. Olympic legend Shaban Tërstena praised the athletes for their performance, noting the significance of their achievement for the nation's sporting community.
