North Macedonia's consumer basket cheapest in Europe, PM to audit prices

Eurostat data released this week shows that the basic consumer basket in North Macedonia costs about 49.7% of the European average, making it the cheapest in Europe. Prime Minister Christian Miccokski said, "Eurostat shows the basic consumer basket in Macedonia is the cheapest in Europe, about 49.7% of the European average."

He announced a detailed examination of the 600‑700 products that make up the basket, stating that officials will analyse each item "invoice by invoice" to identify where prices can be adjusted and to improve affordability for citizens.
