North Macedonia's Culture Ministry and Syndicate form working groups

The Syndicate of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia (SKRM) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism have agreed to form two joint working groups to address the Collective Agreement and the Law on Culture. This development follows a two-year period of stalled social dialogue.

The first working group will focus on the Collective Agreement, which is currently undergoing proceedings before the Constitutional Court. The second group will work on the Law on Culture, with the Syndicate intending to participate actively to ensure legal solutions reflect the rights and needs of cultural workers.

During discussions with Minister Sedat Sulejmani, several long-standing issues were raised, including the selective payment of professional titles in protection activities and the lack of transparency in theater sector promotions. The Syndicate also called for systemic solutions regarding the seniority benefits for ballet artists, emphasizing the need for equal criteria and fairness for all employees.
