North Macedonia's Safe City system targets foreign‑plate vehicles
"Safe City" cameras on Corridors 8 and 10 in North Macedonia record every traffic violation, regardless of whether a vehicle bears Macedonian or foreign licence plates, Interior Minister Pançe Toshkovski said. The system has been operational since January and will issue fines to any driver who breaks the rules, no matter the vehicle’s country of registration.
Toshkovski announced the measures during a meeting at the Tabanoc border point with Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Daçiq and Serbian traffic‑safety officials, marking the start of a joint “Vozitni te pushuar” initiative aimed at curbing unsafe driving across the border.
All violations captured by the cameras will be forwarded to the respective authorities, and offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with Macedonian law.
