North Okanagan Rail Trail opens new section between Grindrod and Enderby

A new section of the Splatsin te Secwépemc/Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail has officially opened between Grindrod and Enderby. This expansion brings the total length of the fully open trail to 40 kilometres, stretching from Sicamous to just south of Enderby.

The project was supported by investment from Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada’s Active Transportation Fund (ATF). This funding is also slated to help complete the remaining trail between Sicamous and Stepney X Road by the end of the year. A two-kilometre section south of Enderby is expected to be finished this fall, providing a new access point for the Township of Spallumcheen.

Trail usage has seen significant activity, with counters logging over 26,000 users on the upper Sicamous-Mara Lake section and over 24,000 on the middle section through Enderby in 2026. Looking ahead, erosion mitigation work is scheduled for the Mara Lake section in September, which will require a temporary closure of that area for several weeks.
