Hendrik Wüst warns of political extremism in Germany
North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst has issued warnings regarding political extremism in Germany. Speaking at a Young Union meeting in Bonn, Wüst criticized potential coalitions involving the Left Party, citing concerns over antisemitism, and warned against the AfD, describing them as allies of enemies of Germany and Europe.
In a separate development within the AfD in North Rhine-Westphalia, internal power struggles have escalated. Two local politicians, Matthias Büschges and Jeremy Franosch, have arranged a traditional Mensur—a fencing duel with blades—to settle disputes between opposing factions of the party. The participants described the duel as a private matter.
Regarding migration policy, reports from various municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia highlight significant disparities in deportation rates. While some cities like Remscheid report higher rates of returns, others like Wuppertal and Mülheim an der Ruhr show very low percentages, often citing staffing shortages in foreign authorities as a primary obstacle.
