North Rhine-Westphalia promotes regional agriculture and food industry

Agricultural and food industry stakeholders in North Rhine-Westphalia are highlighting regional production through various initiatives. As part of the state's 80th anniversary celebrations in Münster, Ernährung-NRW e. V. will present the diversity and innovation of the local food economy from August 28 to 30, 2026. The organization, supported by the Ministry for Agriculture and Consumer Protection, aims to showcase regional quality standards and the work of its member companies.

In the Münsterland region, the BioWochen NRW campaign is connecting consumers with organic farms through tours, farm festivals, and educational activities. This initiative is supported by organic associations such as Bioland, Demeter, and Naturland.

Additionally, Agriculture Minister Silke Gorißen recently conducted a tour of innovative family-run farms in the Münsterland area. During visits to operations like Hof Schulze Rötering, the Minister emphasized the importance of regional value chains, food security, and the preservation of cultural landscapes through traditional and modern farming practices.
