Bavarian towns host selling Sundays and markets on Aug 2, 2026

On Sunday 2 August 2026 a number of towns in Franconia and the rest of Bavaria will hold a "verkaufsoffener Sonntag" – a designated shopping Sunday when stores normally closed on Sundays open their doors. Participating locations include Georgensgmünd (Roth district), Kulmbach (Kulmbach district), Selb (Wunsiedel district), Dietfurt (Neumarkt district) and Neureichenau (Freyung‑Grafenau district). Each town lists opening hours for its city centre shops, often tied to local festivals such as the Kulmbach beer week or the Selb porcelain fair.

At the same weekend, a series of regional markets are scheduled across the area. Highlights are the medieval market at Burg Rabenstein (Bayreuth district) on 1 August, the Kirchweih market in Gräfenberg (Forchheim district) and the Jacobimarkt in Neustadt an der Aisch on 2 August. In addition, numerous flea markets take place in the wider region, for example the large flea market at the Meistersingerhalle in Nürnberg, the Erlangen Bohlenplatz market, and the Neumarkt Altstadt market, all running on 1‑2 August.
