North Sea Port and ProRail install safety signs in Vlissingen-Oost
ProRail and North Sea Port have installed new reflective warning signs at ten unguarded railway crossings in the Vlissingen-Oost port area. The initiative aims to increase alertness among road users and reduce the risk of accidents in an area where freight trains, trucks, cars, and cyclists frequently share the same space.
According to North Sea Port COO Peter Van Parys, the diverse traffic flows in the port require constant attention to safety. ProRail regional director Dimitri Kruik noted that a strong rail system and safety must go hand in hand. The placement of these signs is part of a broader effort to improve safety around crossings, particularly on industrial and port sites which often fall outside national safety programs.
