North-South Expressway begins electronic tolling in central Vietnam
The Vietnam Road Administration has officially commenced electronic toll collection (ETC) on five sections of the North-South Expressway in the central region. The tolling applies to approximately 395 km of roadway, spanning the segments from Quang Ngai to Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon to Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon to Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh to Van Phong, and Van Phong to Nha Trang.
The toll rate is set at 900 VND per kilometer. Fees vary based on five vehicle categories, ranging from passenger cars and small trucks to large heavy-duty vehicles and containers. For example, on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, fees range from approximately 71,000 VND to over 284,000 VND depending on the vehicle type.
Authorities advise all drivers to ensure their ETC tags are properly installed and their accounts are sufficiently funded before entering the expressway to avoid delays. Vehicles without active ETC services must register and activate them prior to travel.
