North Sulawesi legislators urge Pertamina to address fuel distribution in Sitaro

Members of the North Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) held a hearing with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi to address fuel distribution issues in island regions, specifically in the Siau Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) Regency.

Legislators raised concerns regarding the scarcity of subsidized fuel despite the arrival of transport vessels. Normans Luntungan highlighted reports of fuel disappearing shortly after arrival, leading to street prices reaching Rp20,000 to Rp35,000, which heavily burdens residents dependent on maritime transport. He urged Pertamina to investigate potential distribution leaks and ensure fuel reaches intended users, such as fishermen.

Vionita Kuera called for an evaluation of subsidized fuel quotas in Sitaro to ensure they match actual community needs. Pertamina representative Agung Afrizal noted that quotas are determined through government mechanisms and mentioned that assignments for additional distribution facilities in the region are planned for 2026.
