North Sumatra government seeks synergy with DPRD for 2027 development

The North Sumatra Provincial Government is seeking to strengthen synergy with the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) to formulate the regional development direction for 2027. This initiative aims to ensure that all policies and development programs are focused on improving public welfare.

During the 2026 North Sumatra DPRD Working Meeting held in Simalungun from August 30 to September 1, 2026, Vice Governor Surya emphasized that the executive and legislative branches must act as equal partners. The meeting serves as a forum to evaluate the DPRD's performance from July 2025 to July 2026 and to establish the work plan for 2027.

Surya noted that North Sumatra possesses significant potential in various sectors to drive economic growth, including agriculture, palm oil, rubber, coffee, processing industries, and MSMEs. Additionally, the province aims to optimize its tourism sector, highlighting assets such as Lake Toba, the Toba Caldera Geopark, and the Nias Islands.
