North Sumatra Governor announces October repairs for Langkat landslide site

North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution has announced that repairs for the landslide-damaged road in Pamah Semelir, Telagah Village, Langkat Regency, will begin in October 2026. The landslide has disrupted a critical alternative route connecting Langkat Regency with Tanah Karo, leaving the road narrow enough to accommodate only one vehicle at a time and creating accident risks.

In addition to the road damage, the landslide severed clean water distribution pipes, leaving local residents without water for approximately three weeks. To address this, the provincial government will provide temporary water supplies, while the Langkat Regency government, led by Acting Regent Tiorita Br Surbakti, focuses on repairing the broken pipes.

While waiting for permanent repairs to commence in October, the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Langkat Regency Government plan to construct a temporary access route to restore connectivity and facilitate the distribution of goods.
