North Sumatra promotes food security and vocational technology

In North Sumatra, regional authorities are emphasizing the role of educational institutions in driving food security and technological innovation. The Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra, Timur Tumanggor, launched the Food Independent Campus program at the Medan Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan). The initiative encourages universities to utilize land for food crop cultivation and agricultural technology to provide practical benefits to society.

As part of this launch, a simultaneous chili planting movement was held across North Sumatra. Tumanggor noted that chili is a critical commodity that significantly impacts regional inflation, making increased production essential for price stability.

In a separate educational development, SMK 1 Pancurbatu participated in the 'Teras Pelajar Sumut Berkah' exhibition at the North Sumatra Governor's Office. Students showcased industrial technologies, including smart home systems controlled via Android, digital parking systems, and remote-controlled lighting. These projects aim to bridge the gap between vocational education and industrial application.
