IMT-GT Ministerial Meeting in Medan targets regional investment
The 32nd Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Ministerial Meeting and Related Meetings is being held in Medan, North Sumatra, from September 7–10, 2026. The forum aims to strengthen economic synergy among the three nations, positioning the subregion as a primary engine for growth in Southeast Asia.
Sjahrian Harahap, Chairman of the IMT-GT Joint Business Council (JBC) Indonesia, emphasized that the meeting should move beyond discussions to foster real investment, business partnerships, and job creation. In addition to economic discussions, the North Sumatra provincial government is promoting regional tourism and culinary heritage to the visiting delegations. Proposed destinations include Medan’s historical sites such as Maimun Palace and Tjong A Fie House, as well as Lake Toba and Berastagi.
