North Sydney Council adopts new digital platform for planning

North Sydney Council has become the first local government in Australia to implement Objective Build, a cloud-based digital platform designed to streamline development applications and planning approvals. The system manages the entire process from initial lodgement through to determination.

Developed by the ASX-listed Objective Corporation, the platform integrates with the NSW Planning Portal and existing council technology. It connects planning workflows, spatial information, legislation, and assessment templates to reduce administrative complexity and improve visibility over application progress.

Council Director of Corporate Services Olena Tulubinska stated that improving planning services is a priority to meet housing needs for a growing population, as outlined in the council’s 2025–35 Community Strategic Plan. Objective Corporation executives noted that the technology was shaped alongside various NSW councils to specifically address the complexities of the local government planning environment.
