North Wales Police officers found guilty of gross misconduct

North Wales Police has concluded misconduct hearings for two former officers following criminal convictions.

Former Detective Inspector Emma Gardner was found to have committed gross misconduct following her conviction for computer misuse under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. Although Gardner resigned during legal proceedings, the hearing determined that she would have been dismissed without notice had she remained in service. She will be placed on the College of Policing Barred List, preventing future employment in policing.

Separately, former Constable Thomas Coppack was found guilty of gross misconduct after being convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm. Coppack, who also resigned prior to the hearing, will be added to the UK Police Barred List. Following his conviction at Mold Crown Court, he received a suspended prison sentence, a rehabilitation order, and 80 hours of unpaid work.

Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman stated that such conduct undermines public trust and confidence in the police force, emphasizing that the department remains committed to high professional standards and accountability.
