North-West University launches project‑portfolio platform, athletes head to Commonwealth Games

North-West University (NWU) in South Africa has implemented Project Portfolio Office's cloud‑based Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) platform to centralise and digitalise project governance across its faculties. Executive Director of Strategy and Strategic Projects Ntsikie Kote‑Nkomo said the system will link strategy to execution, improve visibility of outcomes and support the university’s six core priority areas.

NWU will also be represented at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with five current athletes and two alumni competing for South Africa and New Zealand. Sprinter Bradley Nkoana—who recently broke the 10‑second barrier in the 100 m—will run in the 4×100 m relay, while hurdlers Franco le Roux, Rogail Joseph and para‑athlete Liezel Gouws join the team. Triple‑jump competitor Ethan Olivier will race for New Zealand. Alumni Waldouw Smit and Jo‑Ané du Plessis will contest the javelin events, highlighting the university’s contribution to international sport.
