Northeast Brazil becomes second largest region in wealth management

The Northeast region of Brazil has overtaken the South to become the second-largest region in terms of assets under management (AUM), trailing only the Southeast. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Market Entities (Anbima), the Northeast reached R$ 60.5 billion in AUM during the first half of 2026, representing a 9.4% increase.

In contrast, the South saw a 1.2% decline, with its managed assets falling to R$ 55.8 billion. This shift highlights a significant trend in the Brazilian financial market, as the Northeast has demonstrated the fastest expansion among all five regions, growing by 752.1% since 2020.

Financial institutions are increasingly targeting cities such as Fortaleza, Teresina, and Salvador to meet the rising demand for specialized services among high-income families and investors. Market experts suggest that the shift is driven by a demand for personalized wealth management and succession planning, areas where digital-only services from major banks may be less effective than specialized local managers.
