Northeast Frontier Railway conducts water-quality and hygiene drives

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented several hygiene and sanitation initiatives across its network in Northeast India. As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 campaign, which runs from September 17 to October 2, the organization has conducted cleanliness drives, environmental awareness programs, and public welfare activities at railway stations, schools, and hospitals.

These efforts include riverbank cleaning along the Brahmaputra and the maintenance of drinking water facilities. On September 21, NFR performed water-quality checks at the Guwahati and Kamakhya railway stations. Samples from passenger-use points underwent physical, chemical, and bacteriological examinations to ensure compliance with safety standards. Results from the testing at both stations indicated that the physicochemical levels were within specified limits.

Additionally, the NFR is conducting awareness programs through the ‘Swachh Paathshala’ initiative, focusing on waste segregation, personal hygiene, and water conservation. The organization continues to perform regular cleaning of water storage tanks and maintenance of water supply installations to ensure passenger safety.
