The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of India's Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified efforts to protect vulnerable travelers. Between January and June 2026 the RPF rescued 430 passengers, including many children, from stations and trains across its network.

From July 18 to 20, RPF teams rescued several minors at locations in West Bengal (New Alipurduar), Assam (New Bongaigaon and Golpara), Bihar (Kishanganj and Katihar), and at Guwahati's Kamakhya station. Rescued children, ranging from ages 10 to 16, were handed over to local child‑welfare committees, child‑line services, or police for further care and legal follow‑up. An 18‑year‑old male was also reunited with his father during the same operations. The force emphasized its commitment to child protection and passenger safety.
